What To Do With A Washing Machine Drain Pipe Clogged

Washing machine repairThe washing machine is an important part of your weekly (if not daily) routine. It’s an appliance that simply helps you wash your dirty clothes faster and in a way that is less exhausting. Without it, you’ll have to endure back-breaking hours washing a week’s worth of laundry or put up with high water bills because of washing your clothes manually every day. Washing machines are relatively durable appliances that last for years when taken care of properly. You don’t really have to do a lot to maintain its good condition. However, one of the things that you’ll have to worry about is keeping its drain pipe clog-free. Dirty clothes often carry sediments and small substances with them and these things may clog the washing machine’s drain or outlet. When such an issue arises, here’s what you need to do.

1. The first thing that you need to do is to find the drain behind the washing machine. Disconnect the pipe or tubing from the very drain using a wrench. Considering that you bought a specially designed unclogger for washing machines, use it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Check the packaging for the step-by-step guide. Just remember that the drain unclogger should not contain harsh chemical ingredients to avoid causing damage on your pipes. If this doesn’t solve the problem, proceed with the next step.

2. Rely on your good ol’ plumbing snake. Slowly insert the snake’s coil into the drain and turn the crank until you can finally feel the blockage. Keep on turning the crank and pushing the snake further to break the clog.

3. If the clog is too thick and difficult to remove, you can attach your plumbing snake to a drill. Once you have connected the two tools together, run the snake into the pipe again until you have reached the clog. Hold the drill tightly and then turn it on to spin the plumbing snake so fast, it will eventually break through the nasty clog.

4. When you’re done, turn the crank counterclockwise to pull the snake back. Slowly get it out of the drain pipe and properly dispose of any waste materials stuck to it. Repeat the process if there’s still some sort of blockage inside the pipes.

5. After working with your plumbing snake, pour water into the pipe to wash away all the waste materials that are still left inside. Use your washing machine just to ensure that the drain is already working properly.
